basic vintage fun.

Two things…

I love when I find super fun unexpected vintage pieces! This dress is a very basic color but has so much drama and effect to it. The collar, sleeves, and tent like flare to the bottom. So good. I’m all about the drama with clothing.

Second, don’t pass by something from a thrift store because of the size on the tag. This dress is marked a size medium. And by usual vintage standards I would just assume a medium would not fit me. I’m more of a L/XL girl. But when I pulled it off the rack I saw how roomy it was and thought I’ll just try it on. And it actually fit! It may be a little more snug on me (in the bust area) than it would be on someone who is a true medium but when it works it works. When it comes to vintage I don’t question it. Lol. So don’t assume something won’t fit. Just try it on. If it doesn’t, it doesn’t. But if it does, you just got yourself an amazing thrift store find. I mean, if it’s clearly going to be too small don’t try it, but you know what I mean.

Immediately when I tried this dress on at the thrift store I pictured it with my snake skin booties and hoops. Because it’s so buttoned up and a lot of fabric I wanted to modernize it. Hopes and booties it was! I added the hat last minute because it needed that extra styled effect.

lime green

If you told me even just a year ago that one day I’d be wearing lime green pants I would have said Noooo WAY! Ha! While I do love fashion and trying new things I would have usually just skipped over a pair of pants this color. But things change and so does our taste. I feel more like myself than I ever have. I wear what I want and even though I sometimes may still be insecure or wonder is everyone staring at me, I wear it anyways. And when I stick to what I love and trying new things and getting outside of my comfort zone I feel alive. I feel like Mercedes. SO, if you’ve been feeling a little blah, just go find you some lime green pants and WERK.
